What to Love

Local Lifestyle

Rockville combines suburban living with an urban feel creating a town that has it all. Though it’s on the smaller side, Rockville provides residents with great schools and a strong job market. Named for Rock Creek, one of three creeks that run through the city, Rockville is a great city for families or young professionals looking to settle down in a small town outside of D.C. while still having access to all the amenities of a bigger city.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

A fun, social dining experience in Rockville is found at the Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant that is fun for the whole family. Fogo de Chao is an excellent Brazilian steakhouse in the city. When you’re in the mood for seafood, the Grilled Oyster Company is the place to go.

When it comes to entertainment, AMP by Strathmore is a great place to take in live music. They support musicians who specialize in styles from jazz to blues to country. It also serves as an event venue for business meetings, weddings, and parties and is just over 15 minutes from downtown Rockville. The Mansion at Strathmore is another stunning venue, with sculpture gardens and art galleries as well as symphony concerts in the Music Room.

For gourmet groceries, the marketplace at Vignola Gourmet is one of the best around. It has dozens of Italian ingredients for you to get creative with. If you’re not shopping for the family, put together a gift basket of goodies for your friends or purchase a pre-made meal that you can heat up at home. Other shopping options are found at the Rockville Town Square on Maryland Ave. It is the main mall in the city with an outdoor ice rink in the winter and fabulous eateries to explore year-round.

The Town Square is home to the Rockville Memorial Library and the Rockville Innovation Center, a unique and award-winning coworking space. On Rockville Pike, residents can visit the Montrose Crossing Shopping Center.

Things to Do

There’s plenty to do in Rockville, especially for those who love to spend their free time outdoors. Rock Creek Regional Park is a great place to start, as it has miles of trails, wildlife lookouts, and playgrounds for the kids. If you take a trip to Lake Needwood, you will see a reservoir fed by Rock Creek that spans over 70-acres. Visitors can hike or rollerblade along the lakeside trails extending more than seven miles along the water. Water fountains and restrooms are available by the picnic areas, and both Lake Needwood and Rock Creek Regional Park are open from sunrise to sunset.

Additionally, Meadowside Nature Center hosts summer camps, scout programs, and birthday parties for kids who love all things nature. They also provide access to several paths and trails in addition to picnic areas and the Raptor Deck, where many species of birds are rehabilitated. Currently closed for renovations, the Center expects to reopen to the public in 2022. For something a little bit different, Glenview Mansion is a fantastic event venue in Rockville, set in a 1920’s Neoclassical home on more than 25-acres of manicured property. Guests can book a wedding or special event on the grounds or stop by to see the free art gallery onsite.

Rockville Real Estate

Rockville, Maryland, stands out as a coveted locale with its current seller's market in real estate. This scenario suggests that there are more prospective buyers than available homes, granting sellers a notable advantage. Properties in Rockville are also getting snapped up faster compared to the previous year, indicating the region's increasing popularity.

Several factors underpin Rockville's bustling real estate scene. The thriving economy of the nearby Washington, D.C. metro area is luring new residents, many setting their sights on Rockville for its unique appeal and amenities. This burgeoning interest, however, is met with a limited inventory of homes, leading to a heightened demand.

For homeowners mulling over a sale, now might be the opportune moment. Essential preparations include decluttering, staging effectively, and ensuring your property is in prime condition. Collaborating with a proficient real estate agent can further enhance the sales experience. On the other hand, potential buyers can look forward to Rockville's outstanding schools, a safe community atmosphere, proximity to D.C., and a rich array of amenities including eateries, stores, and parks. It's prudent to keep in mind some challenges, such as potential traffic congestion and the limited availability of homes. Overall, Rockville's real estate environment is vibrant and particularly favorable for sellers, with abundant attractions for buyers as well.
